Global Issues, Climate Change and Global Warming

Environment Resources - Saving the Environment

environment

There are myriad of environmental concerns, and unless action is taken now, the planet will be plunged into peril.

It seems like global warming is always in the news, but some people will point out to unseasonal snows as evidence that there is no global warming. This is a faulty premise used by those is business to justify their continued pollution of the planet. Scientists concerned with global warming have opted to use the more accurate term climate change to describe industry's detrimental effects on the environment.

Habitat destruction not only results the loss of hundreds of plant and animal species on a weekly basis, but it also plays a hand in climate change. Plants take in carbon dioxide and emit oxygen, but when there are fewer large forests on Earth to produce oxygen, there is an increase in the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere which contributes to rising world temperatures and sea levels.

There is a crisis of fresh water all over the planet. Children are dying by the minute due to a lack of clean fresh water nearby. It is imperative that water pollution stop because it kills plants and animals who rely on that water as well as people.

The media appears to have a love hate relationship with alternative energy, particularly biofuels

Air pollution has been fought for decades, but more and more people continue to dry cars which emit dangerous fumes to choke people and the atmosphere. Without action being taken against air pollution, planet Earth could resemble a brownish gray smog filled planet rather than the beautiful blue planet it has been known as in the past.

Much of the pollution in the environment is added by the use of dangerous non-renewable resources. Oil, coal, and natural gas are all based upon the bodies of animals and plants which were alive millions of years ago. These resources will soon run out, and without other, cleaner options, planet Earth will face a severe energy crisis.

People have had the worst impact on the environment of all the living species in history. Humans polluted the planet and it should be mankind's mission to clean up the Earth before it is too late.

"Our Planet" identifies and promotes products and services that conserve resources and habitats, minimize ozone depletion and global warming, and promote less waste and toxic pollution. Highlighting those who are championing conservation efforts, "Our Planet" provides viewers with the latest news, research, and expert advice on new products and technologies that are changing the energy industry as well as the global landscape. The show's in-depth editorial stories provide the latest information in this exciting field.

As an individual, though, it can sometimes be hard to know where to start. Indeed, how easy is it to actually adopt a greener approach and what are the benefits of doing so?

Take cars, for instance. Many people use theirs on a daily basis, in order to get to work, take the children to school or to ferry the weekly shopping home. But, with millions of vehicles on the roads, huge amounts of harmful CO2 and carbon monoxide emissions are spewed into the atmosphere everyday. Not only is this pollution harmful for the environment, but it can also negatively affect humans.

Day by day, the subject of the environment and natural resources is becoming part of daily life at the worldwide level and this is no coincidence of fad.

The Effect of Global Warming on Antarctica

Nowhere on earth is the effect of global warming felt more than in Antarctica. In fact, the temperature there is heating up more than five times faster than anywhere else on earth. This means the ice is melting two to three weeks earlier now than it did twenty years ago. In certain areas like Signey Island, the ice thickness has decreased by 45% since the 1950's.

Solar Power Is Great for the Environment

Earth 4 Energy allows you to take advantage of all of the tools you can use to do your part to help save your environment. Generating electric from solar energy reduces your consumption of fossil fuels, which decreases pollution and the emmisions that are causing global warming. By using solar power, you will help combat global warming, and reduce our nation's dependence on foreign fuels. A solar power system has a significant environmental impact. For example, a 5KW solar system reduces CO2 emissions by 10,367 lbs., an amount similar to what would occur by planting .80 acres of trees, or the amount of CO2 emitted by a automobile driving 12,441 miles per year.
